Firearm
Questions
Q.
Do I need a "permit" or
"license" to own a firearm?
A.
No, Florida law does not require a permit or license to own a firearm. A
permit is required only if you desire
to carry a firearm in a concealed
manner. By definition,
concealed means "readily accessible for immediate
use." Traditionally, that means the
firearm is carried on your person and
is concealed from view, but can also
mean "in close proximity," such
as in your vehicle.
Q.
Does Florida law allow
me to carry a concealed firearm if I have a
"permit"
or "license" to carry a concealed firearm
from another state?
A.
Yes, but only if you are from a state that honors the Florida concealed
firearm license law, are 21
years of age older, and have the permit or
license in your possession.
Q.
How do I
know if I legally qualify to obtain a license to carry a
concealed
firearm?
