Volunteers

The Community Service Volunteer Program was established in 1997 and is presently staffed by seven retired citizens who provide approximately 900 man-hours every year, allowing officers to concentrate their efforts on patrolling the neighborhoods and streets of our city. Although the main function of the Volunteer Unit is to provide house checks for winter residents during the summer months and for those who have gone on extended vacations, the Volunteers provide assistance to various other divisions within the department. Recently the volunteers have received training in traffic direction and CPR.
