Thank you, Hero!

5/31/2017

Today we had a very special visitor stop by the station to show her gratitude to Sgt. William Offutt. As you may, or may not know each school day officers from the Vero Beach Police Department are on site at each of the school zones within our jurisdiction to make sure everyone's children are safe when arriving and leaving from school.

One student at St. Helen's Catholic school had a project to tell everyone who their Hero is. Maddy choose Sgt. William Offutt because after she asked her parents why an officer was at her school her parents explained that he was there to protect them.

For the service that Sgt. Offutt does each school day, he was chosen as Maddy's Hero!

Check out her pictures below with the Vero Beach Police Dept on her visit today, and the poster that she made for Sgt. Offutt (who was sadly out this week, but he will see this!)
Do you know who I think is a hero? I think Officer Bill is a hero because he keeps us safe at school. I think he is a hero because he protects our country. He is also my hero because he keeps the states safe. This is why Officer Bill is my Hero.
